National Apprenticeship Week 2015

Its National Apprenticeship week! A week to celebrate the positive impact apprenticeships have on individuals, business and the economy.

Apprenticeships now come in all shapes and sizes, with 170 industries covered including aerospace, fashion, broadcast media and finance and over 1500 different job roles.

In the last 100 years apprenticeships have changed dramatically, no longer are they just the hands-on practical professions such as tailor, carpenter or engineer, but now you can develop skills in catering, media, business administration and IT to name a few. Last year the most popular apprenticeship was health and social care. Today 55% of apprentices are women.
Of those who complete an apprenticeship 90% stayed in employment, 71% of which remained with the same employer. There were 850,000 apprenticeships available in 2013-14.

There are lots of events happening in apprentceship week, so if you would like to go along to one and find out more about apprenticeships, you can find out what apprenticeship events are happening near you.

There are a wide range of apprenticeships and many employers recruit throughout the year, so if you are looking for an apprenticeship or just interested to see what is available check out the apprenticeship website.
